BackerKit surveys are coming!
about 5 years ago – Sat, Jan 26, 2019 at 11:28:12 PM

We have made our decision and you’ll receive an email from us with a special link to your  BackerKit survey. It’s important to respond to your survey before our shipping date, so we can fulfill your rewards. Surveys will remain open for some time as we finalize the project.

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey  link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences,  provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like. You  don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available  soon via email!

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change  your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final  counts.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can  return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or  requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit  project page at https://art-of-war-for-savage-worlds.backerkit.com.

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter  account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address you use for  your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact support at https://art-of-war-for-savage-worlds.backerkit.com/faq.

Happy late New Years!

Hello Backers,

The past 20 days we have been keeping up with the #SWADE revisions (4.1 so far) and updating the production file as needed. Layout is mostly done, fine tune editing, and keeping up with the revisions is a work in progress. I’m very close to getting it finished and making sure it is functional with SWD and SWADE.

A goal from the very beginning was to make sure it was 100% compatible with both. As SWADE came out and revisions took place, the Chi Techniques didn’t line up with the Powers list. There is a noticeable divide between base Ranges and Duration, not just the differences in SWD vs SWADE Power rules. I needed to correct this to get in line with the above goal.

The majority of the last 20 days has been a deconstruction and rebuilding of the Chi System. So far, if a Technique has a duration it pulls from the current SWADE standard of 5 rounds versus the common SWD 3 rounds. Techniques do not follow the list of Powers from other editions, but an entirely new list has been made with its own rules. Some Techniques do pull from original Powers list, and makes references to the original source material, but have been altered to best fit the setting of Art of War.

An example would be the barrier power which is now Great Wall and has some updated flexibility.

Great Wall (Barrier)

Cost: 1

Duration: 5

Range: Spirit

Requirement: Seasoned

Trappings: Fire Screen, Lost Souls Shield, Wind Wall

The Southern Wall wasn’t built by hands alone, but was accompanied by Chi masters. This technique works mechanically exactly as the barrier power found in Savage Worlds, except that it can form a shape when created. The wall can be a straight line, a straight line with angles, zigzag, circle, square or another basic shape.

Modifiers

  • Damage (+1): This technique causes 2d4 damage to anything that contacts it.
  • Permanent (+3): The barrier becomes a permanent structure. This modifier can not be combined with the damage modifier.
  • Size (+1): The length of the wall is doubled, and the height can be up to double in size.
  • Strong (+1/+2): The wall is Toughness 12. For +2 points it becomes a Toughness 14.

There are many examples of original material as well (you’ll see soon enough). The current combined listed of deconstructed and rebuilt or modified techniques sits just over 40. Which brings me to my next point.

I am looking into transferring reward tracking from Kickstarter to BackerKit. Backerkit is a simpler way to navigate Kickstarter rewards for project creators. However, it cost money and I’m operating on a tight budget. By Friday a decision will be made and surveys will be sent out. So keep an eye out this weekend from either Kickstarter or BackerKit.

I’ll update you with weekend with deadlines and updates. Keep an eye out for that reward survey.

State of the Kickstarter
over 5 years ago – Sat, Jan 12, 2019 at 01:17:59 AM

December races past like the traditional “Dire Chicken” Races of the Mid-Summer Festival. Layout is almost finished and Art of War is in the middle of a final editing pass. Some reasons for the small push back on the deadline.

1. Map is labeled as “in progress”. This is why I have not been able to show you the two examples I wanted since the last update.

2. SWADE revision has not been released. Shane has encouraged some of us to wait for the next revision. It changes certain mechanics and descriptions of rules. This might alter the mechanics of how Techniques work.

As I work through today and tomorrow, I could make the December deadline (but my body likes to sleep). However, a update would be released once the revision of SWADE is updated (as it is not yet finalized).

Mentioning all of this might make some people nervous and if you are among them, have no worries. We are going to deliver all products reached by Stretch Goals. Just a week or two behind schedule as we wait for the creators of the rule system to finalize their rules.

If you are still nervous and wish to back out of this Kickstarter, we have not spent any of the money raised. I wish for you to stick around, but I know people get itchy. I am more than willing to refund your money minus the fees that Kickstarter has taken as their cut. Please reach out to me directly here, or email “AmoraGame” at Gmail. (do not use the quotes. We put those in there to get by email bot scanners).

In transparency, the project is sitting on my desk. Staring at me, waiting to hit the “publish” button. Surveys are coming soon.

In the meantime, I hope you have a fantastic New Year!

PS: If you have any concerns or questions, reach out to me. If they are not personalized, I will make the questions and answers public so we are all on the same page of accountability.

"Dire Chickens", yes there will be Chocobo, but not a Chocobo. Still doesn't have a name, perhaps Basan.

Art Description: A large flightless bird that is used for both domesticated agriculture uses (meat, feathers, eggs, and plowing fields) and as a riding pack animal (like a horse). “Dire roosters” are found across all habitats. This species of fowl has feathers that change over time based on the food source provided. Those that eat grains are more earthly toned, while ones found in the tropics tend to have bright colors of the local fruit.
